E-Coli Outbreak Update – Media Not Telling The Whole Story

 

Dangerous E-Coli now confirmed as new superbug strain.

More information about the new strain of E-Coli has come to light. It is raising worldwide alarm as it is showing itself to be "extremely aggressive and toxic". And it is also "resistant to antibiotics" which makes it one of the world’s first superbug food infection on record.

The problem is that most of the reports you are reading in the mainstream media has many of the facts wrong and is not reporting the story correctly.

I have to admit, I left out a lot of important information myself as I concentrated on the crazy response in the EU to the fear of contamination in other countries of their vegetables. Hence, this update to help give you more needed information.

This is not about cucumbers being dangerous by being contaminated with e-coli – because e-coli does not grow on cucumbers.

So just where does it come from then? E-Coli is an intestinal strain of bacteria that only exists inside the digestive track of animals (including us). So the actual source of the infection is ANAMAL rather than vegetable.

The vegetables can get contaminated but only if they come into contact with the waste material of infected animals. Sort of a different animal (pun intended) altogether.

Are you hearing this from mainstream media? Nope not at all. The aim of this appears to be to scare everyone into not wanting to purchase vegetables that "may be contaminated". And it seems to be working quite well.

 


The Spanish cucumber has been particularly targeted with a lot of damage done to their economy already.

But this is totally unnecessary and the focus is on the wrong item. The CAUSE of this infection is an animal factor farm and most likely their overuse of antibiotics as a regular thing.

The conditions at these places are so terrible and full of infectious disease that the animals must be given low doses of antibiotics on a regular basis to keep them from getting sick and dying.

They don’t stay alive long enough to have this misuse of the antibiotics do enough damage to cause organ failure. But if they were allowed to live, that is what would happen to every one of them.

Then these animals of course have to poop and this is gathered up and processed into crop fertilizers. Well the E-Coli goes right along with this and can then end up on the food crops. When you eat one that has been contaminated, you get an infection.

E-Coli can not grow in vegetables – it has to come from an animal first to contaminate the food crop and get on the surface of the product. This grown food then goes to the supermarket, someone buys this, fails to wash the produce well, eats it and gets sick. Now the chain is complete.

This particular strain of E-Coli is proving to be very aggressive and much more deadly than the usual ones we encounter.

It appears that this is much different than the usual strains. Here is a couple of quotes from the press about it:

"Chinese and German scientists analyzed the DNA of the E. coli bacteria and determined that the outbreak was caused by "an entirely new, super-toxic" strain that contains several antibiotic-resistant genes, according to a statement from the Shenzhen, China-based laboratory BGI. It said the strain appeared to be a combination of two types of E. coli."

"This is a unique strain that has never been isolated from patients before," Hilde Kruse, a food safety expert at the World Health Organization, told The Associated Press. The new strain has "various characteristics that make it more virulent and toxin-producing" than the many E. coli strains people naturally carry in their intestines. Preliminary genetic sequencing suggests the strain is a never before seen combination of two different E. coli bacteria, with aggressive genes that could explain why the outbreak appears to be so massive and dangerous, the agency said."

Wow, that does not sound good, but it is not a shock that this has happened. The only difference is that it is being documented and actually reported in the mass media.

So what can you do to protect yourself from this or any other E-Coli strain?

There are some very simple things you can do.

1. EAT LOCAL PRODUCE – grow your own in your own garden or purchase from the local farmer and farmers’ market.

2. WASH YOUR VEGGIES – and wash them very well – would not hurt to use pure soap also to break down any wax or whatever they might have been sprayed with. Please use pure soap and not the regular hand soap from the store.

E-Coli will be on the surface of the vegetable and can be removed with enough washing.

3. TAKE PROBIOTICS – these are the friendly bacteria we all have in our intestines that help us digest our food, provide protection from infection, and can actually attack and overcome a bad bug like an E-Coli strain. But only if there are sufficient bacteria in our guts.

If you have a sufficient gut bacteria, it is very difficult for any invading bacteria to gain a foothold. Most anyone that gets an active E-Coli infection has a compromised digestive track for some reason.

Adding Probiotics can help keep your bacteria strong and filling up your gut. That would be a very good thing.

4. AVOID ANY ANTIBIOTICS YOU CAN – the reason for this is simple. Antibiotics are needed in some situations. Today doctors are far too prone to prescribe an antibiotic even when they know it is likely to do nothing for their patient. Antibiotics act only against bacteria and not against any virus. When the doctor doesn’t know what is wrong – just use an antibiotic just in case. This is the worst thing that they could do.

So, take an antibiotic only when and if you absolutely must do so for any infection. And then after the course of your treatment DO TAKE PROBIOTICS to rebuild up your gut bacterial or you may very well leave yourself open to some other bug worse than what you just got rid of!

It really is pretty simply and you just have to exercise a reasonable amount of caution in preparing your food. Keep yourself healthy using vitamins, minerals, and herbals as needed. Exercise, get plenty of rest and sunshine (yes sunshine is actually good for you despite what the media has been telling us).

A strong and healthy body and immune system and gut bacteria offer the best defense against getting sick.
